About “Month in Review”
I’ve learnt tremendous amounts from other companies through the transparency movement, such as Buffer, Baremetrics, and Indie Hackers. My hope is that I can pay it back by being transparent about Cloud Campaign’s journey in hopes that it will help other budding startups one day.
The Team Grows!
We brought on a Sales Director, Nathan, to help drive more deals into the sales pipeline. Initially, he will be focused on prospecting leads and setting up demos.
We’re stoked to have him on board and he’s already landed a demo at the time of writing this!
We increased our marketing spend in July with a large focus on brand awareness and increased sales.
For brand awareness, we mostly focused on Facebook ads — a product ad sharing screenshots of our platform and a few ads driving traffic to our blog and our podcast.
To drive more sales, we created competitor landing pages comparing Cloud Campaign to similar products and set up AdWord campaigns to target users searching for our competitors. This type of SEM has much higher CTR and should yield a greater ROI. We’re seeing a CTR of 25% for some keywords.
In June, we started rounding up the top social media news each week and putting the stories into articles called The #SocialSkim.
In July, we turned those articles into a podcast. You can find the podcast on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, etc…
If you’re spending a lot of time attracting new followers on social media, you want to make sure you’re actually attracting the right people; you know, the people that will actually become customers.
We added community insights to help you get a better idea for your audience on social media.
Video marketing is becoming such a critical part of social media marketing. We’ve seen a major uptick in the number of videos uploaded to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and it’s apparent that the social platforms favor them over links or images.
This past month, we added video support so Cloud Campaign users can now schedule videos to be published on social media along with all other post types.
We made some changes to how posts are added to a queue to simplify the workflow.
